Thank you for registering for the New Orleans
Rebirth 5K Run/Walk. Below is information
regarding this Saturday's event:

Packet Pick Up:
You can pick up your race packet (bib number,
Nalgene bottle) at Pacers of Old Town
(1301 King Street) on Thursday,
September 13 and Friday, September 14
from 10am-8pm.
We will also be accepting registrations
during packet pick up ($25) and on race day
($30) (cash or check only).
Race location:
The race is being held at Oronoco Bay Park in
Old Town, Alexandria. Please see our
website for
directions to the park.
Course:
Start time:
The race will start promptly at 9:00am.
Race Day packet pick
up/registration:
You may pick up your registration packet the
morning of the race from 7:00am-8:45am.
Please arrive early!
Timing chips:
This race uses ChampionChip electronic timing
chips to record times. You may pick up your
chip the morning of the race. No chip = no
time. No personal chips; you
must use the chips supplied by the
race.
Parking:
There is on street parking available in the
neighborhoods around the park. Limited
parking is available at 700 North
Fairfax. Please arrive early. Please see www.wmata.com for public
transportation schedules. The park is a good
half mile/mile walk from the Braddock Road
Metro.
Baggage drop:
There will be an area for you to leave your
gear. Items left are at your own risk.
Please do not leave any valuables.
Team Competition:
If you are participating on a team, we ask
that your team members register prior to Saturday
morning.
Kid's Activities:
We will have a clown, a moon bounce, and some
lawn games available in our children's area.
All children must be accompanied by an
adult.
Restrooms:
Portable restrooms are available in the
park.
Post-race activities:
We will have post-race food (note: due to
health code regulations, we are
no longer able to serve our original menu,
however, we will still have good post-race
fare!)
Also, be sure to stick around for live jazz
and to meet with local NOLA
activitists.
Awards:
Merchandise awards will be presented to the
top three overall male/female runners and the
first male/female in the following age groups:
under 10; 11-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59;
60-69; 70+ (no duplicate awards)
Water stop:
There is a water stop on course just beyond
mile 2 on Pendleton Street.
Medical:
City of Alexandria bike EMTs will be
on-site.
IPODS/Strollers:
Both are allowed, however, please be aware of
your surroundings and use at your own risk.
If using a stroller, please start in the
back.
Walkers:
Walkers are welcome to walk the race and
should start in the back of the pack.
Ten mile training run:
Individuals signed up for the pre-race ten
mile training run should meet at Oronoco Bay Park
near the registration tent at
6:45am. The run will start
promptly at 7:00am. The run
will go through Old Town Alexandria and course
maps for a 10 mile route and a shorter route will
be available race morning. There will be
pre-run GU and water, but you should be prepared
to bring your own fluids for the run. The
roads for the training run are NOT closed and all
runners should observe traffic signs and be alert.
Runners must be back before 9:00am to join the
5K.
Weekend weather report (as of press
time): highs in the mid-70s, lows in the
50s!
